Rich and Poor People by Darius Holmes

In life there are three classes of people there are upper class, middle class, and lower class. Most of us are more and likely in the middle class, in my opinion the middle class are people who just have enough to get everything they need. And also can get many things that they want depending on the length of the family or a living on your own. Lower class in fact are one’s who live in poverty and can’t provide for themselves as much as the upper class and middle class can. People sometime stereotype lower-class and may assume things such as mistaking a lower class person for a drug addict, mentally ill person, or a person who doesn’t want to do anything with their life (bum). Rich people simply have everything they want and everything that they need, they don’t have to worry when they will get their next meal or having a roof over their head. Rich people can sometime be labeled as selfish and snobby. Although not all rich are necessarily selfish or snobby, some actually give back to the lower class community because some rich actually have started from the bottom and worked their way up and bringing their families to a higher standard. The same can go for lower class people as some may don’t have a mental business they could have lost their job, born into poverty, or the society that they live in. some who are lower class and live in poverty make a difference in how society looks . Which means that society as a whole should care more about the lower class rather than labeling and degrading a person. Most people may wonder how the lower class can survive. In lower class families, usually it may be one or two people in a family that would be working for a low wage and wouldn’t seem to provide much, so the little money that they have, they may take that to get only what they need such as food for the house. Poverty is a very bad situation to live in, especially the images that the media provides us of, which shows poverty in countries such as Africa in which kids are shown starving and lack of clothing. I believe that the media shows us these Images because most of us fail to know what’s going on around the world in terms of poverty and America isn’t the only place.  But on the other end there are even celebrities who were once poor in their life time and are now rich and spread the wealth and knowledge of being poor. Rapper Jay-Z said “As kids we didn't complain about being poor; we talked about how rich we were going to be and made moves to get the lifestyle we aspired to by any means we could. And as soon as we had a little money, we were eager to show it” (BrainyQuote.com). There are ways to get out of poverty because millions have gotten out of poverty, through hard work and dedication. Some who come out of poverty usually get into the middle class, because just by having a decent paying job to support yourself or your family can help out a lot and have a family or individual in the middle class. Being rich can be hard but easy for some people because they may have been born into that type of family. So therefore they may not know what it feels like to work hard for something. So they may not care about the poor or the needy in the country, which is how several people in poverty think and are right most of the time because the rich are the ones who do less for the poverty. Not all rich people ignore the ones in poverty some actually give a lot back such as donating money and even giving the Salvation Army clothes that they no longer wear anymore. People often wonder sometimes, how did that person get poor? Or how did that person become rich. Like I explained earlier sometimes people are born into that situation and adapt to the situation that they are born in. becoming poor can happen to any family or any person in the world but how a person is poor is the small thing when the situation is already relevant . The number one cause of poverty is illiteracy, if you don’t how to read then it’s a chance that you won’t make it far in life; education is how the world operates. Nelson Mandela once said “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” The quote displays truth and Mandela speaks it. Education is what gets people rich or in the middle class, because learning has value and stability. “Everyone knows that kids learn from what we do, not from what we say. When the Chicago teachers went on strike, they were setting an example. And they are fighting not just for themselves, but for the kids' future. Not just because they're advocating for smaller class sizes, and more libraries and art and music programs.”  The quote that I provided from Sarah Knopp shows that when the strike happened not only did they do the strike in order for them begin back teaching but to not take education away from the kids. This shows education is the way of life to become successful and provide yourself or family with whatever you need. In some cases education doesn’t play in success, some people who may be talented may find themselves out of a poverty stricken situation through their talents and may become famous. But in some cases it’s very rare as most people say 1 in a million. Rich people however are able to get more opportunities than the middle class and lower class; this is because the rich seem to have more access to the world. People would say how does that make sense, if your rich it would mean that you’re economically dominant so you may get material things that middle class or third class cannot afford to have. Other advantages they have are health care making it easier for them to get help directly when they need it. Middle class people get the same help but it’s much more of a process than ones in the first class. Lower class people may find it difficult to see medical attention due to the fact there is lack of insurance, which might have them end up in community, hospital which is inconvenient and make take some time to get help. “It would be a tragedy if this new focus on inequality and on great fortunes diverted attention from the most fundamental tasks of any democratic society – supporting the health and education of all its citizens.” This quote by Lawrence summers shows that all health concerns should be equal for all people and fair. A person should not be discriminated or restricted because of their social status. And their social status should not determine equity or certain opportunities to attain. Rich and poor people are two different types of people one has money and one doesn’t but the main objective that most people want stability and wealth.
